Expression: WCH Gallery A Exhibition

Expression is an exhibition of some of the artworks created by patients from Boylan Ward though the Activity Therapy Program.

Since 2011, the Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Arts in Health program has worked closely with the Women’s and Children’s Health Network to provide funding and resources to build the Play Therapy service, which includes funding the full-time Activity Therapist to support children and young people during their admission on Boylan Ward.

Creative expression is a huge part of our Activity Therapy program and our staff facilitate this through the use of art mediums such as paints, pastels, chalks, clay and pencils.

Children and young people visiting Boylan Ward have used art as a way to express themselves and convey their experiences in a non-threatening and creative way. Each child is nurtured and supported as an individual with unique needs, personality, individual preferences, cultural values and capabilities.

This exhibition is held during the 2017 Mental Health Week and aims to celebrate the achievements of the young people who have found enjoyment and meaning in the use of creative arts on their Boylan Ward journey.

Expression is on display in the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Gallery A (Ground Floor Zone A -near Allied Health entrance and Hospital School).
